Paediatricians manage the health of children, including physical, behaviour and mental health issues. They are trained to diagnose and treat childhood illnesses, from minor health problems to serious diseases. They will see children many times from birth to age 2 and once a year from ages 2-to-5 for well-child visits. After age 5, the paediatrician will likely continue to see the child every year for annual check-ups. They are also the first person to call whenever children are sick.
Paediatricians will perform physical exams, give children vaccinations, make sure they mees milestones in growth, behaviour and skills, diagnose and treat children's illnesses, infections, injuries and other health problems, provide information about your children's health, safety, nutrition, and fitness needs as well as answer questions about the little one's growth and development.
